The sarus crane is the world’s tallest flying bird, found mostly in northern and central India,
terai Nepal and Pakistan. These birds are often seen wading in shallow wetlands or in cropped agricultural areas. Sarus cranes dance throughout their breeding season and into winter. Distinct from the whirling movements of other cranes, they dash, jump and bow straight up and down.
Did you know? The sarus crane is the state bird of Uttar Pradesh.
